MGR In Malaysia 1970

Sri MGR Year 96, 30th November, Saturday

MGR Devotee Sree Sitharan has forwarded all these images to be shared in our MGR Blog. In this juncture I thank him for his kindness. A little about the person Late Mr.Lem who is an amateur photographer, took these images and he had given this to his son Chin Kon Lem, who is fortunately our Sree Sitharan’s Chinese friend. There were 26 photos only these lasted to this day. We team thanks MGR Devotee Sree Sitharan for preserving this timeless treasure.


Puratchi Thalaivar MGR visited Malaysia on behalf of the shooting for his movie Emgeeyar Pictures Ulagam Sutrum Vaaliban, Malaysian Tamil people gave a grand welcome to our Leader. He also attended the function organized by Shaw Brothers who were Tamil movie distributors and who had already distributed MGR first directorial venture movie Nadodi Mannan.


The above images are captured in Stadium Merdeka (Independence Stadium) Malaysia.


Tan Sri Datuk Amar Dr.P.Ramlee also known as the Icon of Malay entertainment and Famous Malaysian actor attended the function he is seen seated in between Asokan and MGR (left image) and in the right 2nd image you can see him smiling with our MGR.

The same image showing full VIPs who are seated in the dais. The 2nd left image might be captured in Federal Hotel, Malaysia, as told by his friend. Image to the right is the Vazhthu madal given to MGR on 20.10.1970 during the function.

  4. The records collected and posted are excellent. Similarly 100 days films in other major cities are to be collected and preserved, because after 10/20 years it may not be available.
